Starting therapy can feel overwhelming. Knowing the roadmap can help ease the anxiety. Here is the typical process for families at Play. Learn. Progress. when working with me.

1. The Initial Consultation

It starts with a phone call or email. I discuss your concerns with you and determine if an evaluation is warranted. I also review insurance, scheduling, and location.

2. The Evaluation

This is my first meeting with your child. I use a combination of standardized tests, observation, and parent interviews to assess your child's strengths and areas of need. This isn't a "pass/fail" test; it's a way for me to understand how your child communicates.

3. The Plan of Care

Based on the evaluation, I create a customized Plan of Care with specific, measurable goals. I review this with you to ensure the goals align with your family's priorities.

4. Therapy Sessions

I begin weekly or bi-weekly sessions. I work on the goals through play and structured activities. I constantly collect data to track progress.

5. Re-Evaluation and Discharge

Every 6 to 12 months (or sooner if needed), I formally re-evaluate to see how far your child has come. Once your child has met their goals and is communicating effectively for their age, I celebrate their graduation from therapy!

The journey looks different for every child, but I am with you every step of the way.
